PLANT AND FLEET GOVERNANCE

Plant & Fleet Governance

Asset Management is challenging.  The value of assets in an organisation are substantial with large sums of money invested in the planning, maintenance and management of the assets.

Plant and Fleet Asset Management is often not structured or given the same focus as the high value asset classes such as roads, water and wastewater.  This was the case for the first client that engaged CED Consultants to develop this package.   The client was an amalgamation of 6 distinct organisations into one new entity.  Each of the previous organisations had different rules and policies for all things Plant and Fleet Management.   The Plant and Fleet Manager was, at the time, a 20 year plus veteran of Plant and Fleet Management with a competent team, but they acknowledged they were not “managing”.

CED Consultants using the IPWEA Plant and Vehicle Management Manual as a reference guide for Industry Standards, developed the first iteration of the Plant and Fleet Governance Package.   This project was delivered in 2011.  Since then, CED Consultants has continued the development and refinement of the package rolling it out to other clients.

Today the package key elements are:

  • Light Fleet Policy (White Fleet)
  • Heavy Fleet Policy (Yellow Fleet)
  • Vehicle Use Policy
  • Plant Policy
  • In Vehicle guidebook
  • Plant and Fleet Management Guideline
  • Vehicle Use Agreement
  • Vehicle selection Schedule based on organisation levels

Industry-Grade Asset Management

While Plant and Fleet Asset Management is not as often as structured as high-value assets, CED consultants have worked with different industries and organizations who have unique needs for specialist’s guidance. From planning, maintenance and efficient management of your assets, our consulting specialist take you by the hand fine-tuning your investments.  The IPWEA posted an InTouch Article on 18 July 2019 describing the requirements for Asset Replacement Policy.   The CED Consultants package follows these rules!   We work with our clients to make sure theses rules are applied.  It is an interesting article located at https://www.ipwea.org/blogs/intouch/2019/07/17/is-your-asset-replacement-policy-up-to-speed
